U.S. Senate Subpoenas Live Nation After Months of Unmet Document Requests
The U.S. Senate has issued a subpoena against Live Nation and Ticketmaster, following the company's alleged failure to comply with document requests dating back to March 2024.

Senator Richard Blumenthal, chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, announced the subpoena seeking documents related to ticket pricing, fees, and resale practices. The action comes weeks after Live Nation reported its "biggest quarter ever" and follows January's congressional hearing where CFO Joe Berchtold faced questioning over the Eras Tour pre-sale issues.
Live Nation EVP Dan Wall contested the "stonewalling" allegation, stating the company has provided nearly 10,000 pages of documents, including 2,000 emails and numerous commercial agreements. Wall explained that an impasse occurred due to the subcommittee's refusal to provide confidentiality protections for sensitive client information, particularly regarding artist tour earnings.
The subpoena coincides with an ongoing Justice Department antitrust investigation into the Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger. During the company's record Q3 financials presentation, Berchtold dismissed concerns about the DOJ probe, suggesting there was no significant development in the investigation.
