The anonymous Jane Doe states in Los Angeles court documents that she refused to recant her story when approached by Jay-Z's investigators, claiming the experience left her "intimidated and terrified." She explains she dropped the initial lawsuit due to fears of public exposure and backlash from Jay-Z's supporters, not because her claims were false.
Contradicting Jay-Z's defamation countersuit, Jane Doe explicitly denies that attorney Tony Buzbee pushed her to target Jay-Z, stating, "I told them that neither of those things ever happened, and I asked them to leave me alone."
Carter's legal team has responded by filing sworn statements from private investigators who claim Jane Doe admitted Jay-Z didn't assault her and that Buzbee's firm promised a payout if she pursued the case. They're now seeking permission to depose both Jane Doe and Buzbee under oath.
Buzbee strongly refutes these allegations, explaining that another law firm initially took the case in October before referring it to his firm weeks later. He states, "The allegation that I sat with Jane Doe and suggested a suit against Jay-Z is not only a lie, it's provably and demonstrably false."
Jay-Z maintains his innocence, characterizing the situation as a "blackmail attempt" and accusing Buzbee of attempting to extort settlements by falsely connecting celebrities to Sean "Diddy" Combs, who currently faces federal charges in New York.
