Sony Pictures Expands Digital Audio Capabilities with 48 Harrison MPC Channel Strip Plugins
Sony Pictures Post Production Services has acquired over 48 licenses for Harrison's MPC Channel Strip plug-in software across 14 mix stages, continuing a 30-year relationship that began with their first Harrison MPC film re-recording console installation in 1992.

The MPC Channel Strip plug-in combines six key components:
- 8-band parametric EQ with RTA
- Multi-pole filters
- Two-band de-esser
- Two-band de-noiser
- Compressor
- Routing, trim and polarity controls
A standout feature is the ability to customize signal flow order through various functions - users can rearrange the sequence of processing elements like placing compression before EQ or adjusting de-noiser positioning.
The studio maintains Harrison hardware installations in major mixing theaters, including:
- Burt Lancaster Theater
- Kim Novak Theater
- William Holden Theater
These facilities support all current audio formats including Dolby Atmos, Auro3D, and IMAX, using Harrison's Xrange system as the backbone for routing and speaker management.
Mark Onks, Post Production Sound Engineer at Sony Pictures, notes that the plug-in emulates the familiar feel and response of the original hardware consoles, allowing mixers to shape sound using tools they're accustomed to while adapting to modern digital workflows.
Harrison, based in Nashville since 1975, has installed over 1,500 consoles worldwide, maintaining its position as a leading provider of high-end audio consoles for film post-production.
