TikTok Uncertainty Drives Advertisers and Creators to Snapchat, CEO Reports
Snapchat is experiencing significant growth amid TikTok's ongoing uncertainty, according to Snap CEO Evan Spiegel. The company reported impressive Q4 2024 results, with revenue reaching $1.55 billion and daily active users growing to 453 million, marking a 9% increase year-over-year.

Key Performance Highlights:
- Revenue: $1.55 billion (up from $1.36 billion YoY)
- Advertising Revenue: $1.41 billion (10% increase YoY)
- Daily Active Users: 453 million (9% increase YoY)
- Net Income: $9 million (improved from $248 million loss)
The platform's growth is partly attributed to advertisers diversifying their spending and creators seeking multiple platforms for audience engagement. Spiegel noted a 40% increase in creators posting to Snapchat through their Snap Star program, which enables content monetization.
Looking Forward:
- Q1 2025 projected users: 459 million
- Expected revenue: $1.32-1.36 billion
- Operating expenses to increase 11-12% YoY
- Plans for a simplified Snapchat experience
The company plans increased investments in Q1, including $5 million for Los wildfire relief efforts. Despite lower-than-expected first-quarter adjusted earnings projections, Snap maintains an optimistic outlook for continued growth and platform development.
While Spiegel remained cautious about directly attributing growth to TikTok's challenges, he acknowledged the situation as "an imperfect experiment" and emphasized Snap's focus on supporting both advertisers and creators during this period of market uncertainty.
