Blake Chandlee, TikTok's Global Business Solutions Head overseeing marketing and ad sales, has announced his departure from the company through an internal memo. This follows the recent exit of Global Head of Music Ole Obermann, who left for Apple Music last month.

Chandlee will officially step down on April 1 but will continue in an advisory role. Will Liu, who leads the global monetization production team, will take over the combined department operations.

The departure comes at a critical time for TikTok, which faces a potential US ban under new legislation requiring ByteDance, its Chinese parent company, to sell US operations to an American company by April 5.

Key developments:

  • Chandlee has been with TikTok since 2019
  • Several other executives have recently left, including:
    • Ole Obermann (Global Head of Music)
    • Sameer Singh (Head of Ad Sales, North America)
    • Jack Bamberger (US General Manager of Agency Business)

The situation remains uncertain as ByteDance and Chinese authorities have shown resistance to selling TikTok's US operations, despite the Trump administration's insistence that a sale is progressing.

In Chandlee's memo, he emphasized the need to streamline operations: "As our offerings become more technical and our client product solutions become more sophisticated, it is important that global business solutions and global monetization product technology operate increasingly hand-in-hand."
