The teaser shows Shaboozey, known for "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," enjoying Nerds Gummy Clusters while playing guitar before being joined by a Nerds character on stage. Shaboozey also contributed music to the advertisement.
The artist's connection to the brand runs deep, reflecting on his childhood memories: "As a kid, you know, obviously, we can't keep our hands off the candy. You were always in the candy aisle, whether [your] parents wanted us to be there or not."
This marketing move follows Nerds' successful 2023 Super Bowl campaign featuring Addison Rae, which helped the brand gain 4.3 percentage points in market share. Greg Guidotti, Ferrara's chief marketing officer, sees significant growth potential, noting the brand currently has only 25.1% household penetration.
The advertisement, costing over $7 million for a 30-second slot, puts Nerds in direct competition with other major snack brands like Doritos and Pringles during the big game.
Nerds, originally launched in 1983 under the Wonka name, is now part of Ferrara's portfolio, which includes other popular candies like Laffy Taffy, SweeTarts, Bottle Caps, and recently acquired Jelly Belly.
