The controversy began when online speculation suggested Harris was receiving debate answers through audio earrings. Icebach CEO Malte Iversen initially fueled these rumors with a cryptic LinkedIn post, which was later deleted.

The Nova H1 earrings, which debuted on Kickstarter in 2021, are wireless earphones embedded in freshwater pearl earrings. They feature:
