The arrest occurred in 2020 when Kentrell DeSean Gaulden (NBA YoungBoy) was filming a music video in Baton Rouge, where he and 15 others were detained. Police seized multiple firearms from the scene.

The rapper has been serving time in Utah since May on six charges of dangerous weapon possession and unlawful activity. His current time served could reduce his remaining sentence to approximately 12 months.

Additional charges include:

  • Identity fraud
  • Forgery
  • Possession of controlled substances
  • Involvement in prescription drug fraud

In November, Gaulden pleaded guilty to his role in a prescription drug fraud operation run from his Utah mansion. Out of 46 total charges, he entered a "no contest" plea to remaining counts.

Despite his legal troubles, YoungBoy maintained success on the Billboard charts, with five Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 in 2022 alone. His album "The Last Slimeto" peaked at #2, marking his final release with Atlantic Records before signing with Motown.
