The AI chatbot integration spans across Meta's major platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. When providing answers, the chatbot will cite Reuters stories and include direct links to their content, with Reuters receiving compensation for their reports.
This marks Meta's first major AI news partnership, following their recent expanded agreement with Universal Music Group that addressed AI-generated content concerns. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has indicated plans for additional partnerships to enhance their AI capabilities.
The company is also reportedly in discussions with Apple for a potential generative AI collaboration, despite their historical rivalry. This comes as the EU pushes for more open access to Apple's App Store ecosystem.
