Drake and Chris Brown face a $5 million copyright lawsuit over their hit song "No Guidance," with singer Dore claiming unauthorized use of her 2016 track "I Got It."

The lawsuit, filed in New Jersey, alleges that "No Guidance" copied multiple elements from Dore's song, including chord progressions, tempo, melody, and lyrics. Producer Anderson Hernandez (Vinylz), who reportedly discovered Dore's song on YouTube before working with Drake and Brown, is also named in the suit.

The case extends beyond the artists, targeting YouTube and Google for removing a copyright comparison video created by Dore's legal team. This removal raises questions about how digital platforms handle copyright disputes involving high-profile artists.

This isn't the first copyright challenge for Drake and Brown. They previously faced allegations from Brandon Cooper and Timothy Valentine over "No Guidance" similarities to "I Love Your Dress," which they denied.

The lawsuit highlights crucial issues in modern music copyright:

  • Challenges in determining originality in the streaming era
  • Boundaries between inspiration and infringement
  • Impact of digital platforms on music sharing and creative processes
  • Future implications for sampling and artistic collaboration

The case's outcome could significantly influence how artists approach collaborations, sampling, and credit attribution in the future, potentially affecting creative freedom in the music industry.
