Sean "Diddy" Combs has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against defendants who allegedly made false claims about possessing videos showing him sexually assaulting celebrities and minors.

The lawsuit targets Courtney Burgess, attorney Ariel Mitchell, and NewsNation. Burgess, described as having no notable music industry presence, claimed to have received videos and a memoir from Diddy's deceased ex-partner Kim Porter. Porter's family has denounced these claims as false, and Amazon reportedly pulled the memoir.

Mitchell, who previously filed lawsuits against various celebrities including Diddy, allegedly repeated these claims in media appearances and in Peacock's "The Making of a Bad Boy" documentary. The lawsuit alleges she demanded luxury accommodations and fees for interviews.

Key allegations in the lawsuit:

  • The defendants fabricated claims about possession of assault videos
  • They spread false information for personal profit
  • NewsNation failed to fact-check before broadcasting these claims
  • The statements may have prejudiced potential jurors for Diddy's upcoming May trial

Diddy's legal team argues these "outrageous lies" have created a media frenzy and potentially compromised his right to a fair trial on pending sex trafficking charges. The lawsuit seeks both monetary damages and to address the impact on his upcoming criminal trial.

This defamation suit comes as Diddy faces multiple civil claims and federal charges, with his criminal trial scheduled for May. His legal team maintains that the alleged videos "do not exist" and that the defendants' claims are part of a "shameless competition to draw attention to themselves."
