Bollywood composer Pritam has defended BLACKPINK's Jennie against plagiarism accusations regarding her upcoming solo track "Like Jennie." The controversy emerged when listeners noticed similarities between Jennie's song and "Rani's Theme" from the 2023 Bollywood film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

The main point of contention is the vocal arrangement, where both songs feature chanted names - "Jennie" and "Rani" respectively - throughout the tracks, with similar beats and rhythmic patterns.

Pritam, who composed "Rani's Theme," took to Instagram to dismiss the plagiarism claims. He explained that the similarity stems from the natural rhyming of the names "Rani" and "Jennie," stating that such coincidences are common in music, especially when artists share similar creative spaces.

The composer emphasized that modern music creation often leads to overlapping elements, particularly within the same genre. He advocated for celebrating artistic diversity rather than engaging in negative comparisons, noting that genuine copying is rare in today's collaborative music landscape.
