YouTube reported exceptional financial results in Q3 2024, with revenue reaching $8.92 billion, marking its second-best quarter ever. Total revenue from ads and subscriptions exceeded $50 billion over the past four quarters, while subscription revenue grew 27.7% year-over-year to $10.66 billion.

YouTube Music has been a key driver of this growth, surpassing 100 million subscribers in March 2024 - an increase of 20 million subscribers since 2022. The success extends to other subscription services, including YouTube TV and NFL Sunday Ticket, with the latter attracting more subscribers on YouTube than its previous home on DirecTV.

AI technology, particularly Gemini, has played a crucial role in this success by improving content recommendations and user engagement. According to Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler, AI-powered systems better understand video content and viewer preferences, leading to more relevant and personalized recommendations.

Alphabet's overall performance reflects this success, with total sales increasing 15% year-over-year to $88.3 billion. The company's stock closed at $171.14 per share, up 22.6% for the year, with an additional 5.5% increase in after-hours trading.

The platform also reported a 25% year-over-year increase in Content ID claims, with rights holders predominantly choosing to monetize rather than remove content, indicating a healthy ecosystem for content creators and rights management.
