Web3 startup Story has acquired producer rights to several Blackpink tracks and other K-pop recordings, with plans to sell them as NFTs to fans through blockchain tokens. This move represents a significant step in tokenizing K-pop intellectual property.

The acquired rights include partial copyrights for Blackpink's "Yeah Yeah Yeah" and "Ready For Love," Jisoo's "Flower" and "All Eyes On Me," and Bigbang's "Still Life." These rights were obtained directly from producers involved in creating these songs.

Story has already demonstrated success in the music NFT space, having previously sold tokenized hits from artists like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, and Maroon 5. Their project has raised over $10 million, with $7 million generated in just the first 10 minutes.

Investors in these tokens will receive a share of copyrights and their associated income streams. Story projects an annualized royalty yield of 6-8% on these tokenized rights over the next five years.

The announcement comes as Blackpink continues to expand its global presence, with member Lisa Manobal making her acting debut in Season 3 of HBO Max's "The White Lotus."

This venture represents a continued interest in music NFTs, despite the general cooling of the NFT market since its peak in 2021. Story's focus on K-pop IP suggests a strategic move to capitalize on the genre's growing global popularity and engaged fanbase.
