Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino must testify in the Astroworld tragedy case after the Texas Supreme Court denied the company's petition to block his deposition.

The court ruled against Live Nation's argument that Rapino was an "apex" executive too far removed from festival decisions. Evidence showed his direct involvement, including a crucial email he sent the night of the disaster stating, "If 5 died we would cancel," regarding the decision to end the festival.
The deposition is part of ongoing litigation following the 2021 Astroworld tragedy, where 10 people died and hundreds were injured during Travis Scott's performance. While some lawsuits have been settled privately, several victims and families are proceeding toward trial, seeking billions in damages from Live Nation, Scott, and other parties.
The timing of Rapino's deposition has not yet been announced.
