Swizz Beatz Faces Legal Battle Over $7.3M in Stolen 1MDB Funds
Swizz Beatz faces legal action over allegations of receiving millions in stolen funds from Malaysia's 1MDB fraud scandal. The lawsuit, filed in New York by 1MDB liquidators, seeks to recover $7.3 million allegedly gifted by international fugitive Jho Low.

Key Details of the Case:
- Kasseem Dean (Swizz Beatz) received $2.2 million personally
- Additional millions were transferred to his companies Swizz Beatz Productions Inc. and Monza Studios Inc.
- Dean has filed to dismiss the claim, refusing to return the funds
- Previously surrendered an Andy Warhol painting gifted by Low to the Department of Justice
The funds were part of a larger scheme where Jho Low allegedly misappropriated billions from 1MDB, Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund, spending it on luxury properties, art, and lavish events, including his 31st birthday where Swizz Beatz performed.
The 1MDB Board spokesperson states: "Those who benefitted from this orchestrated theft will not evade accountability and will be relentlessly pursued until we have recovered our nation's rightful assets."
Angela Barkhouse, an independent Court officer overseeing the claims, confirms the legal action seeks restitution for financial losses caused by fraud facilitators and conduits, following detailed investigations to recover previously unreported assets for IMDB and SRC International Sdn Bhd creditors.
