"It doesn't taint the song at all for me. It's still my song," Sting stated firmly, referring to the 1997 hit that sampled his original work to create a tribute to The Notorious B.I.G.

The collaboration between the two artists, though initially unauthorized, led to a unique financial arrangement where Diddy pays Sting a daily fee for the sample use - reportedly up to $5,000 per day. Despite this, Sting has praised the adaptation as a "beautiful version" and considers Diddy a "very good friend."

Currently, Diddy faces serious federal charges including sex trafficking and racketeering, with a trial scheduled for May 2025. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is being held at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center.

The artistic partnership between Sting and Diddy culminated in a memorable Grammy performance in 1998, demonstrating how their collaboration transcended business arrangements to create a lasting musical legacy.
