Snowflake Hackers Behind Ticketmaster and AT&T Mega-Breach Face Federal Indictment

Two hackers have been indicted for orchestrating widespread cyberattacks affecting 165 corporations, including Ticketmaster and AT&T. Connor Moucka and John Binns face multiple cybercrime charges for their involvement in the "Snowflake" hack.

Between November 2023 and October 2024, the hackers gained unauthorized access to billions of sensitive customer records, including:

  • Call and text history records
  • Banking and financial information
  • Payroll records
  • DEA registration numbers
  • Driver's license numbers
  • Passport numbers
  • Social Security numbers
  • Personal identification information

During April-May 2024, the duo breached Ticketmaster's cloud computing systems and attempted to sell stolen data of hundreds of millions of customers on cybercriminal forums. They also tried to extort Ticketmaster through ransom demands between May and July 2024.

Connor Moucka was arrested in Canada in October 2024, while John Binns operated from Turkey during the attacks. The charges they face include:

  • Wire fraud
  • Securities fraud
  • Conspiracy to commit fraud
  • Unauthorized computer access
  • Data theft
  • Privacy violations

If convicted, they could face up to 60 years in prison, with individual charges carrying sentences ranging from 5 to 25 years each.
