The SXM-9 satellite, built by Maxar Space Systems, has completed its in-orbit testing and is now fully operational. Following this success, Maxar Space has been commissioned to construct three additional satellites: SXM-10, SXM-11, and SXM-12, with SXM-10 scheduled for launch later this year.

Key Features of SXM-9:

  • Built on the Maxar 1300 platform
  • Height: 27+ feet
  • Length: 100+ feet (with deployed solar arrays)
  • Weight: 6,400 kg at launch
  • Equipped with L3Harris S-band reflector antenna
  • Reaches approximately 167 million SiriusXM-equipped vehicles

The satellite provides continuous audio entertainment and information services to consumers across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, marking the tenth high-powered digital audio radio satellite built by Maxar Space Systems for SiriusXM.

Bridget Neville, SiriusXM's Senior Vice President & GM of Signal Distribution Engineering, emphasized the company's commitment to cutting-edge technology and enhancing proprietary satellite delivery systems. The expanded satellite fleet is expected to strengthen SiriusXM's service capabilities for decades to come.

Chris Johnson, CEO of Maxar Space Systems, highlighted the Maxar 1300 platform's mission adaptability and reliability, making it ideal for SiriusXM's current and future satellite requirements.
