Jakob Nowell recently performed with original Sublime members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh at a Los Angeles benefit show for Bad Brains leader H.R. This marked Gaugh's first performance with the band since his departure in 2011. According to Billboard, Jakob and his mother have agreed with Wilson and Gaugh to relaunch Sublime under the management of Kevin Zinger and Joe Escalante.

Rome Ramirez, who has fronted Sublime With Rome for the past 15 years, shared on Instagram: "The upcoming performances over the next year will allow us to reflect on countless incredible memories together!" He confirmed that new solo music is in development.

The transition appears well-timed, as festival talent buyers are already submitting offers for the potential Sublime relaunch. Jakob, who lost his father Bradley in 1996, has been actively performing with his own band, Jakob's Castle, for over a decade.

Key upcoming dates:

  • Jakob's Castle will open for G Love & Special Sauce through March 2024
  • Sublime With Rome will tour New Zealand in February 2024
  • Rome Ramirez's departure is set for the end of 2024

The name "Sublime With Rome" was originally created as a legal compromise with Bradley's widow, Troy Dendekker Nowell, who had sued to prevent the band from touring under the name Sublime. With Jakob potentially taking the helm, the band appears poised for a new chapter in its legacy.
