Netflix Adds Spatial Audio To Original Shows With Sennheiser Partnership

Netflix now offers spatial audio support for select Netflix Originals through a partnership with Sennheiser. The feature began rolling out on July 7, using Sennheiser's AMBEO 2-Channel spatial audio technology to convert immersive mixes into enhanced two-channel audio.

Currently, 27 Netflix Original titles support spatial audio, including popular shows like Stranger Things, The Witcher, and Red Notice. This enhancement aims to deliver a more immersive viewing experience while preserving the original sound mix and creative intent.

To find content with spatial audio support, users can simply search "spatial audio" on Netflix. The feature works alongside other Netflix quality features like 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos, and Netflix Calibrated Mode.

Scott Kramer, Netflix's Manager for Sound Technology, notes that the AMBEO spatial audio technology provides "a meaningful improvement for Netflix members" and better translates immersive mix work to stereo systems.
