Neil Young Ditches Platinum Tickets, Takes Stand Against Fan Exploitation
Neil Young has announced he will no longer offer Platinum tickets for his upcoming tours, citing concerns over fan exploitation. Young was inspired by Robert Smith's efforts to keep The Cure's ticket prices affordable during their 2023 tour.
In a statement on Neil Young Archives, the folk-rock icon criticized dynamic pricing as "the bad thing that has happened to concerts world-wide." While acknowledging that Platinum tickets were intended to combat scalpers and redirect profits to artists, Young concluded that the practice "did not feel right."
"I have decided to let the people work this out. Buy aggressively when the tickets come out or tickets will cost a lot more in a secondary market," Young explained.
