The development began when MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) expressed interest in buying TikTok on January 13th via X (formerly Twitter) to prevent its ban. His post attracted attention from numerous billionaires, leading to serious discussions about potential acquisition.

An investor group led by Employer.com founder Jesse Tinsley has already submitted an all-cash offer for TikTok, though specific investors remain unnamed. While MrBeast's representatives confirmed he's engaging with multiple groups, they emphasized no exclusive agreements have been signed.

Other potential buyers include:

  • Frank McCourt's The People's Bid for TikTok
  • Elon Musk (net worth $434 billion)
  • Oracle's Larry Ellison
  • Jeff Bezos-backed Perplexity AI (proposing a merger)

Any acquisition must receive Chinese government approval, as ByteDance currently owns TikTok. With the 74-day deadline for divestment approaching, a resolution is expected soon.

MrBeast's potential involvement is particularly significant due to his massive, nonpartisan media reach, which could prove more valuable than his financial contribution to any acquisition deal.
