Meta has launched a $50 million Creator Fund alongside its new Meta Horizon Worlds desktop editor to drive mixed reality development and mobile content creation.

The fund aims to incentivize developers to build engaging experiences for Meta's mixed reality headsets while expanding reach to mobile users who don't yet own Quest devices. Creators can earn monthly bonuses based on metrics like time spent, retention, and in-world purchases.
Key Features of the Program:
- Available in 19 countries including US, UK, Canada, and newly added European nations
- Open to creators aged 13+ in eligible regions
- New desktop editor supports custom model import, TypeScript, and mobile optimization
- US creators get access to AI tools for sound effects and ambient audio
- $1 million mobile-focused competition launching March 11
The desktop editor allows creators to build worlds on PC using traditional 2D and 3D development workflows, making it easier to create high-fidelity experiences. This approach mirrors Roblox's Creator Fund model, though Meta's program rewards based on engagement rather than upfront payments.
Creators can access the program by downloading the desktop editor in early access and begin building mobile and mixed reality worlds that contribute to Meta's growing virtual ecosystem.
