More than 50 Universal Music Group (UMG) employees have been displaced by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, with many losing their homes entirely. UMG Chairman Lucian Grainge, a 15-year Pacific Palisades resident, has cancelled his European business meetings to remain in Los Angeles and coordinate support efforts.

Grainge has assembled a team including Jody Gerson, Eric Hutcherson, John Janick, Monte Lipman, Boyd Muir, and Will Tanous to organize assistance for affected employees. The company's operational base in Santa Monica is partially under evacuation orders.

The wildfires' impact extends far beyond UMG, with:

  • 24 confirmed deaths
  • Dozens still missing
  • 92,000 people under mandatory evacuation orders
  • 89,000 additional people under evacuation warnings
  • Approximately 60 square miles burned across the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires

Cal Fire has advised the entire region from Ventura to San Diego to prepare for possible evacuation orders as the situation continues to develop.

In his message to employees, Grainge emphasized the importance of continuing to support their artists and songwriters worldwide while managing this crisis, stating "we are strong, we will continue to be brave, and as always, we will march on together!"
