The artist, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, made the decision "out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles county." His sixth studio album, "Hurry Up Tomorrow," will now release on January 31, a week later than originally planned.
"This city has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, and my thoughts are with everyone impacted during this difficult time," Tesfaye stated. He emphasized his focus remains on supporting the recovery of affected communities.
The album holds special significance as it will be Tesfaye's final project under The Weeknd persona, though he plans to continue making music. It will be accompanied by a film of the same name, scheduled for release in May.
The wildfires have claimed over 20 lives and led to numerous entertainment event cancellations, including Grammy Awards-related activities. However, the main Grammy ceremony will proceed as planned on February 2.
