The 12-track project, produced by Jack Antonoff, features collaborations with SZA and marks Lamar's sixth studio album. The release follows his highly successful 2024 diss track "Not Like Us," which broke multiple streaming records in May.

GNX includes notable tracks like "Reincarnated," "Heart Pt. 6," and the title track "GNX." While the album contains apparent references to ongoing rap feuds, particularly with Drake, it explores broader themes beyond these disputes.

The opening track notably addresses Lil Wayne, who was passed over for the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown of New Orleans, with Lamar acknowledging: "Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down."

Major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music (the halftime show sponsor), have prominently featured the album. While physical editions aren't currently available, Interscope continues to offer merchandise including a $100 Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers hoodie and vinyl package.

Industry experts anticipate increased streaming numbers following Lamar's Super Bowl performance in February, following the pattern of previous halftime show performers who experienced significant commercial boosts post-show.
