A Los Angeles federal judge has ruled that the woman accusing Diplo of revenge porn must reveal her identity to proceed with her civil lawsuit, despite her wishes to remain anonymous.

The accuser, currently known as Jane Doe, filed her lawsuit in June, claiming that Diplo (Thomas Wesley Pentz) filmed their sexual encounters and shared them on Snapchat without consent. Judge Mónica Ramírez Almadani determined that the accuser failed to demonstrate a legal necessity for anonymity.

While acknowledging the sensitive nature of the allegations, Judge Almadani emphasized that "absent a demonstrated need for anonymity, there is a prevailing public interest in open judicial proceedings."

The accuser's attorneys, Margaret Mabie and Helene Weiss, expressed disappointment with the ruling, noting the power imbalance in celebrity cases and the risks of public disclosure in the digital age. They argue that revealing an accuser's identity can permanently link survivors to their trauma.

Diplo's legal team welcomed the decision, having maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings. His lawyers argued that he "cannot adequately confront his accuser without knowing her identity."

This ruling reflects a broader legal trend where courts increasingly require accusers to reveal their identities in sexual abuse cases against public figures, reserving anonymity for situations deemed high-risk.
