Jim Jones has defended Drake's legal petitions against Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify, describing them as strategic business decisions that won't affect Drake's reputation in hip-hop culture.

Speaking on Respectfully: The Justin Laboy Show, Jones emphasized that Drake's legal actions are purely business-focused and separate from street credibility. He pointed out that lawsuits against major corporations are common practice and shouldn't be viewed negatively in the hip-hop community.

"Him doing that with business is no reflection of the streets," Jones explained, noting that Drake isn't positioning himself as a street figure. "That's straight business."

The discussion centers on Drake's November petition alleging that UMG and Spotify artificially inflated the success of Kendrick Lamar's diss track "Not Like Us" through bots and payola schemes. Drake filed a second petition claiming defamation against UMG for allowing Lamar to release lyrics calling him a "certified pedophile."

Jones drew parallels to other corporate lawsuits, stating, "People win lawsuits all the time against companies and nobody hold that against them. Is it any different than him suing Walmart?"
