Jelly Roll Exposes Chart Manipulation, Acknowledges Rod Wave as True #1 Artist
Jelly Roll has called out alleged chart manipulation in the music industry during his recent appearance on ESPN's The Pat McAfee Show. The country singer discussed a contentious chart battle involving his album 'Beautifully Broken,' Charli XCX's 'Brat' remix album, and Rod Wave's 'Last Lap.'

According to Jelly Roll, his team observed suspicious activity when approximately 40,000 albums suddenly appeared from a third-party aggregator just before the final Friday count. Luminate, the official chart tracking company, ultimately rejected these sales.
While Jelly Roll's album achieved the technical #1 position due to physical sales at retailers like Walmart and Target, he acknowledged that Rod Wave actually garnered more streaming numbers than his and Charli XCX's releases combined. In a show of sportsmanship, Jelly Roll publicly congratulated Rod Wave as the true chart-topping artist of that week.
The situation has raised concerns about transparency in music industry chart tracking and the ongoing debate between traditional album sales versus streaming numbers in determining chart positions.
