Jay-Z seeks the identity of his accuser in a lawsuit amendment that names him alongside Diddy in allegations of sexual abuse from 2000. The lawsuit, initially identifying Carter as "Celebrity A," accuses him and Sean "Diddy" Combs of assault at a VMAs afterparty when the plaintiff was 13 years old.

Carter's attorney, Alex Spiro, argues that the allegations are "patently false" and part of a "campaign of extortion" by attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents multiple accusers against Combs. The motion emphasizes that Carter deserves to know his accuser's identity to properly defend himself against claims that could damage his decades-built reputation.

While sexual abuse lawsuit plaintiffs can sometimes maintain anonymity if there's a significant risk of retaliation, such cases are uncommon. Judges have already required other Jane Doe accusers in related civil suits against Combs to reveal their identities.

Attorney Buzbee claims to represent 120 individuals alleging victimization by Combs, with over a dozen civil lawsuits filed. Carter's legal team maintains that the accuser hasn't met the requirements to retain anonymity and must be "unmasked" for proper legal proceedings to continue.
