The documentary features newly restored footage from their historic 1972 "One to One" benefit concert at Madison Square Garden - Lennon's only full-length concert after leaving the Beatles. The film provides intimate, never-before-seen material of the couple's life in their Greenwich Village apartment.
Director Kevin MacDonald ("The Last King of Scotland") and producer Peter Worsley chronicle how John and Yoko immersed themselves in American culture through television, witnessing major events like the Vietnam War, Nixon's presidency, and popular culture of the era. Their exposure to American media, including a Geraldo Rivera exposé, ultimately inspired the Madison Square Garden benefit concert.
The film, produced with involvement from Sean Ono Lennon (John and Yoko's son), promises to challenge existing perspectives of the iconic couple while offering an authentic look at their artistic and personal evolution during this period.
Release Schedule:
- IMAX Sneak Preview: April 11
- Wide Release: April 18
The documentary combines historical footage, intimate moments, and a meticulously recreated set of their NYC apartment to present a comprehensive portrait of two influential artists during a pivotal moment in their lives.
