Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. announced the event will continue "in close coordination with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible use of area resources." This year's ceremony will take on additional significance by raising funds for wildfire relief efforts and honoring first responders.
The Recording Academy and MusiCares have already launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort with an initial $1 million donation, which has grown to over $2 million in emergency aid for affected music professionals and creatives.
The current situation remains serious, with 25 confirmed casualties, 92,000 people under evacuation orders, and 89,000 more in warning zones.
Universal Music Group has cancelled all Grammy-related events, including their artist showcase and afterparty, redirecting those resources to wildfire relief efforts. "Our deepest gratitude goes to the first responders and emergency personnel, who continue to perform heroically," UMG stated, adding their commitment to supporting the music community and Los Angeles residents through this crisis.
"In these challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite like nothing else," Mason emphasized, noting that the Grammys will serve both to honor musical achievements and demonstrate Los Angeles's resilient spirit.
