Industry insiders suggest two main options are under consideration:
- Postponing the show and related events
- Transforming the broadcast into a fundraiser
Recording Academy head Harvey Mason Jr. is evaluating multiple scenarios, with final decisions depending on fire conditions in the coming days. The Academy has previously postponed the Grammys twice due to COVID-19 - moving the 2021 show from January to March and the 2022 ceremony to April.
A benefit concert is being planned for January 30 at the Intuit Dome, organized by Live Nation, the Azoff family, and AEG Presents, with artists yet to be announced.
Current Wildfire Impact:
- Fires started Tuesday in Pacific Palisades
- Spread to Malibu and Santa Monica
- Active fires include Eaton, Hurst, and Kenneth
- Death toll at 24 (as reported by LA Medical Examiner's Office)
- Thousands of residents displaced
