Deezer Launches First-Ever Artist-Centric Publishing Model Through SACEM Partnership
Deezer has partnered with SACEM to implement its 'artist-centric payment system' (ACPS) for publishing rights in France, marking the first significant update to streaming remuneration models for publishing rights since streaming's inception.

The new model introduces two key features:
- Artists with 1,000+ streams from 500 different subscribers monthly receive double the per-stream payment
- Songs discovered through active searches or non-algorithmic playlists also receive doubled compensation
This system aims to:
- Direct more subscriber payments to actively followed artists
- Combat streaming fraud
- Create a more equitable ecosystem for creators
- Support working artists who maintain active fan bases
"Our model ensures that a higher share of what subscribers pay goes to the artists they love, while also counteracting fraudulent streaming behavior," explains Alexis Lanternier, Deezer CEO.
SACEM CEO Cécile Rap-Veber endorses the initiative, noting it "moves in the direction of more equitable distribution of revenue by rewarding true music, excluding noise, and better accounting for diversity of aesthetics and genres listened to on the platform."
The partnership extends Deezer's ACPS model, which was initially launched for recorded music in 2023, to now cover publishing rights. Both organizations expect this model to influence other industry players toward creating a more sustainable music ecosystem.
