Bruce Springsteen has spoken out about the music industry's impact on young artists following Liam Payne's tragic death. In a candid interview with The Telegraph, Springsteen highlighted the immense pressures faced by young musicians in the industry.
"It's a business that puts enormous pressures on young people who don't have the inner facility to protect themselves from success and fame," Springsteen explained. He noted that many turn to drugs and alcohol to cope with these pressures.
Drawing from his experience with the E Street Band, Springsteen acknowledged similar struggles within his own group. While maintaining boundaries, he emphasized intervening when performance quality was affected by substance use.
The rock legend referenced the untimely deaths of artists like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain as examples of the industry's toll on young talent. "Dying young—good for the record company, but what's in it for you?" he remarked.
Former One Direction member Liam Payne recently died after falling from a third-story balcony in Argentina. Reports indicate he suffered severe hemorrhaging, with the incident occurring after hotel staff denied him pool access due to intoxication.
