Billboard Latin Music Week 2024's 35th anniversary celebration brought together major artists and industry leaders at The Fillmore Miami Beach for discussions on reggaeton, music management, and catalog acquisition.

Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin headlined the event and participated in a Q&A session alongside hip hop artists Fat Joe and N.O.R.E. Fat Joe emphasized the strong connection between hip hop and reggaeton, noting "Hip hop and reggae go side by side — and hip hop is the influence. It's like they're rapping in Spanish, with hip hop beats."

N.O.R.E. discussed his pioneering role in reggaeton, highlighting his 2004 hit "Oye Mi Canto" as a breakthrough moment that achieved many firsts for the genre on MTV, BET, and Hot 97.

Key industry panels focused on:

  • Catalog financing and data management
  • Environmental impact of music events
  • Alternative revenue streams for artists
  • Financial planning and real estate investment

Anana Love, Director of Membership at Open on Sunday, stressed the importance of organized data for artists interested in selling their catalogs. REVERB's Tanner Watt discussed initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of music events and engage Latin artists in sustainability efforts.

The event, held October 15-18, also featured business professionals offering guidance on financial management and real estate investments, with experts like luxury real estate agent Wendy Sanchez and financial advisor Andrea Friedman sharing insights on career sustainability and work-life balance.
