The partnership provides Hangout with 7digital's extensive metadata catalog and streaming services, ensuring all music streamed complies with approved licenses from major labels including Universal, Sony, Warner Music, and Merlin.
Joseph Perla, CEO and founder of Hangout, emphasized that 7digital's robust music data powers their platform's fast and accurate search engine, creating a seamless listening experience for users.
James Priestley, Chief Commercial Officer at 7digital, highlighted how the combination of their global music catalog and Songtradr's industry expertise enables innovative social music experiences on platforms like Hangout.
Launched globally last month, Hangout serves as a social media alternative focused on community music appreciation. Users can join virtual listening spaces to discover new artists, share favorites, and interact through a virtual dancefloor and chat function.
This collaboration renews a previous relationship between 7digital and Turntable.fm, Hangout's predecessor platform co-founded by Perla in 2011.
