X Launches Global Rollout of Vertical Video Feed Amid TikTok's Ongoing Challenges
X is expanding its dedicated vertical video feed globally following its successful US launch. The feature, which appears as a new tab next to the Grok AI button in the X app, is now available in Australia, India, and several European markets.

Currently, the rollout is limited to iOS users, with Android availability pending. This expansion comes amid TikTok's ongoing accessibility issues, with Instagram and other platforms actively courting prominent creators to their platforms.
Video content has become increasingly important for X. The platform previously launched a TV app for creator content and introduced swipe-up functionality for short videos in 2022. The new vertical feed incorporates advertisements after several video views, creating an additional revenue stream similar to Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok's strategies.
Despite uncertainty around TikTok's future in the US market (following Trump's executive order extending the deadline for US control negotiations), the influence of short-form video continues to grow across social media platforms.

As social media platforms continue to evolve, features popularized by TikTok are expected to appear more frequently across competing apps, reflecting the dominant trend of short-form video content in social media.
