The partnership focuses on emote licensing, similar to Fortnite's character feature packs that have included artists like Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, and Travis Scott. Starting May 1, developers can access:
Lil Wayne tracks:
- "Uproar"
- "GO DJ"
CG5 tracks:
- "I See A Dreamer"
- "Sleep Well"
- "Let Me In"
- "Dancin'"
HEAT serves as a marketplace connecting animators, game developers, and 3D artists with motion data and music resources. The platform aims to streamline the integration of licensed music into gaming projects.
Alvaro Galbete-Velilla, SVP of New Business at UMG, emphasizes that this initiative allows UMG labels and artists to distribute tracks directly into gaming development tools, enhancing fan engagement and creating viral gaming experiences.
To celebrate the partnership, UMG is hosting events at San Francisco's Monarch Club during GDC, concluding with a DJ set by Virgin Music Group artist SOFI TUKKER. This collaboration represents UMG's continued expansion into the gaming industry, building on their track record of successful gaming partnerships.
