Twitter/X has requested a three-week extension to respond to the ongoing copyright infringement lawsuit filed by the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA). The new deadline would be April 9th, pending court approval.

Earlier in March, while the court declined to dismiss the case entirely, it did remove some of the NMPA's claims. The remaining lawsuit focuses on:
- Contributory infringement allegations regarding "forgiving treatment" for verified users
- Twitter's response time to takedown notices
- The platform's handling of repeat infringers
The NMPA has a history of similar legal actions, including:
- A settled case against Roblox in September 2021
- An ongoing lawsuit against Vinkle's parent company from June 2022
The case's initial management conference has been rescheduled from March 1st to June 7th, though no trial date has been set.
In related news, Bad Bunny recently filed a complaint against a Spanish fan for posting unauthorized concert footage from his Most Wanted Tour on YouTube. While the specific videos have been removed and the account deactivated, similar unauthorized content continues to appear on various platforms.
The social platform maintains that the case's scope has changed following the partial dismissal, necessitating additional time to prepare its response. The NMPA's legal team has agreed to this extension request.
