Ticketmaster Warns of Major Dublin Ticket Scam Targeting Concert-Goers
A major ticket scam in Dublin has prompted Ticketmaster and major Irish venues to issue an urgent warning after numerous fans lost significant amounts of money to fraudulent sellers.
The scam involves a Dublin-based seller offering non-existent advance or last-minute tickets to popular events. Ticketmaster has confirmed they're working with An Garda Siochána to implement enhanced security and ticket verification measures for upcoming events.

Irish venues warn of Ticketmaster scam
Multiple organizations have joined forces to combat this issue, including 3Arena, Aviva Stadium, Croke Park, FAI, IRFU, MCD Productions, and Festival Republic. They emphasize that legitimate tickets are only available directly through Ticketmaster's official website.
The upcoming Oasis reunion tour dates at Dublin's Croke Park (August 16-17) may be among the targeted events. Similar scams have been reported in Scotland, where authorities are investigating fraudulent Oasis concert ticket sales on Facebook through hacked accounts.
Consumer law expert Gurpreet Chholar warns against purchasing tickets from unauthorized sellers, as consumer protection rights are significantly reduced in such cases. The band is also scheduled to perform at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9, and 12.
Key Safety Tips:
- Only purchase tickets through Ticketmaster's official website
- Avoid third-party sellers
- Report suspicious activity to local law enforcement
- Don't contact suspected hacked account holders directly
- Contact police if you've been affected by the scam
