The settlement addresses complaints from customers who purchased tickets between January 1 and June 30, 2018. While Ticketmaster denies wrongdoing, affected customers can receive up to $45 in transferrable Ticketmaster credit for future purchases.

Key Settlement Details:

  • Up to 100,000 Saskatchewan residents and over 1 million Canadians may be eligible
  • Eligible customers will receive notification via email
  • Credits will be distributed through electronic gift cards
  • Maximum credit amount is $45 per customer

The settlement allocates $1.7 million to attorneys' fees and $25,000 to lead plaintiff Crystal Watch. Any remaining funds will be distributed to court-approved organizations selected by both parties.

This settlement follows a similar 2019 case where the Competition Bureau of Canada fined Ticketmaster $4 million for misleading pricing practices. Commissioner Matthew Boswell emphasized that "Canadians should be able to trust the prices advertised are the ones they will pay when purchasing tickets online."
