The Lion King Composer Lebo M Sells Music Rights to Reservoir Media
Reservoir Media (NASDAQ: RSVR) has acquired rights to the catalog of renowned composer Lebohang Morake (Lebo M), best known for his work on The Lion King franchise. The deal encompasses multiple film scores and compositions from Morake's illustrious career.

Morake's most notable contribution includes writing and performing the iconic opening of "Circle of Life" for the 1994 film The Lion King. His collaboration with Hans Zimmer began with 1992's The Power of One, leading to numerous successful projects including:
- The Lion King musical
- Mufasa: The Lion King (upcoming)
- Tears of the Sun (2003)
- The Legend of Tarzan (2016)
- The Woman King (2022)
While specific financial terms remain undisclosed, this acquisition strengthens Reservoir's position in the film score market. The company already holds rights to works by composers like Hans Zimmer and Henry Jackman, with a total portfolio exceeding 150,000 compositions and 36,000 recordings.
"Lebo's music has moved generations of film lovers," stated Reservoir CEO Golnar Khosrowshahi, emphasizing the cultural impact of his contributions to film scores.
