Surf Company Sues Lady Gaga Over Alleged Mayhem Logo Trademark Infringement
Lost International, a California-based surf company, has filed a lawsuit against Lady Gaga over alleged trademark infringement of their "Mayhem" logo used on her new merchandise line.

The surf company claims they've been using the "Mayhem" trademark since 1986 for surfboards, equipment, clothing, and accessories. The trademark was officially registered in 2015. "Mayhem" is also the nickname of Lost International's co-founder, Matt Biolos.
According to the legal complaint filed in California district court on March 25, Lady Gaga's merchandise logo is "substantially similar if not nearly identical" to Lost International's trademark. The company sent a cease and desist letter, which was allegedly ignored.
Lady Gaga's attorney, Orin Snyder, responded: "This is nothing more than an opportunistic and meritless abuse of the legal system," noting that the album "Mayhem" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Lost International seeks a jury trial, arguing that the similarity in logos could mislead consumers about product origin and damage their brand reputation. The company states they have "lost control over its valuable goodwill" due to the confusion.
The lawsuit comes as Lady Gaga prepares for her Mayhem Ball tour, scheduled for 32 shows across North America, Europe, and the UK from July through November.
