Blackpink's Rosé has officially withdrawn her music from the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), marking a significant shift in her career management. The decision, confirmed by KOMCA, was initiated in October 2024 and finalized in late January 2025.

As a solo artist, Rosé has achieved remarkable success, particularly with her English-language release "APT." featuring Bruno Mars, which has accumulated 1.24 billion Spotify streams in just over four months. While maintaining her position in Blackpink under YG Entertainment, she also holds a solo contract with Warner Music's Atlantic.

This departure from KOMCA is historically significant, as Rosé becomes only the second artist to make this move, following Seo Tai-ji in 2003. The decision likely stems from her growing international presence and the potential inefficiencies in royalty processing, as KOMCA typically requires six months to a year to process U.S. payments.

Rosé's solo success is reflected in her impressive 63.88 million monthly Spotify listeners, surpassing Blackpink's 16.41 million. Her fellow members also maintain strong individual followings: Jennie (42.47 million), Lisa (23.25 million), and Jisoo (7.87 million).

The news has had a positive impact on YG Entertainment's market performance, with its stock (KOSDAQ: 122870) rising 44.5% over the past year. Additionally, YG Plus subsidiary (KRX: 037270) has seen a 36% increase since the announcement of Rosé's KOMCA exit.

This development comes as Blackpink prepares for their comeback tour, scheduled to begin in Seoul on July 5th, suggesting a strategic balance between group activities and individual career management.
