The partnership brings together RCA Greater China, a Sony Music division, with IRIS Chengdu, a music and art collective founded by producer Andre Grant (Harikiri) in 2021. Chengdu, with its population of 21.4 million, has emerged as China's hip-hop music epicenter.
Five IRIS artists will release albums through RCA Greater China over the next 12 months:
- Vinida Weng
- Haysen Cheng
- Miles
- Swag Kelly
- Harikiri
Vinida Weng's "7th Seed" marks the partnership's first release, featuring both English and Mandarin tracks. The artist recently performed her first international concert and released a new single "Black Eight" with Haysen Cheng.
The collaboration aims to expand these artists' reach globally while maintaining their authentic creative vision. As IRIS founder Harikiri states, "This partnership marks an exciting milestone, amplifying our ability to share stories globally while staying true to our roots."
This move follows other major labels' recent expansions in China's music market, including Universal Music Greater China's exclusive agreement with Liu Huan and their promotion of Jacky Cheung's milestone 1,000th concert achievement.
The financial terms of the RCA-IRIS partnership remain undisclosed, and future plans beyond the initial 12-month period are yet to be announced.
