The documentary explores untold stories behind SNL's most memorable musical performances, sketches, and cameos from the past five decades. It features interviews with over 50 prominent artists including Elvis Costello, Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Mick Jagger, Dua Lipa, and Paul Simon.

Key SNL figures also appear in the film, including creator Lorne Michaels and notable cast members such as Eddie Murphy, Maya Rudolph, Fred Armisen, and Kenan Thompson.

Questlove described the documentary's creation process: "Everyone knows the most famous SNL appearances, whether it's Elvis Costello, Prince, or the Beastie Boys, but they're the tip of the iceberg. The process of going back through the incredible archival footage was like being in a time machine."

The documentary is produced by Two One Five Entertainment, RadicalMedia, and Broadway Video, with executive production by Lorne Michaels, Questlove, and several others. It's part of SNL's 50th anniversary celebration, which also includes a four-part docuseries "SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night" premiering January 16 and a live prime-time special on February 16.
