The cancelled Edelman documentary, which took five years to make and would have run nine hours across six episodes, reportedly included controversial testimonies from Prince's former girlfriends, including allegations of physical and emotional abuse from Jill Jones.

The estate cited "dramatic factual inaccuracies" and "sensationalized" content as reasons for terminating the project, claiming these elements violated their original agreement with Edelman.

L. Londell McMillan, co-manager of Prince Legacy LLC, confirmed that a new agreement has been reached with Netflix. The upcoming estate-approved documentary promises to be "an in-depth piece that explores the complexities of the brilliant musical genius."

While the release date remains unannounced, Netflix will continue to be involved in the project. The new documentary will feature exclusive content from Prince's personal archives, ensuring a more controlled narrative of the artist's legacy.
