The Holy See Press Office reports the Pope had a "restful night" and is responding well to treatment and physical therapy. Initially admitted to Rome's Gemelli Hospital on February 14 for bronchitis, his oxygen support has been gradually reduced as his lungs strengthen.

Despite hospitalization, Pope Francis maintains his spiritual and administrative duties, attending Roman Curia's Spiritual Exercises via video link. He continues monitoring global events and sending messages of solidarity to communities affected by disasters and conflicts, including recent prayers for Ukraine.

The Wednesday General Audience was canceled due to his recovery and ongoing Spiritual Exercises. His return to public engagements will depend on medical advice and continued health improvements.

While the Pope's hospitalization has raised concerns, particularly given his 2021 intestinal surgery, Vatican officials assure that his condition, though complex, is not cause for immediate alarm. His medical team will provide another detailed update this week regarding his treatment plan.

Vatican officials emphasize Pope Francis' resilience and commitment to his mission. While his full recovery will take time, he remains engaged in Church matters from his hospital room. The faithful worldwide are encouraged to continue praying for his recovery as he remains under medical care.

The Vatican has not yet announced a discharge date, prioritizing the Pope's complete recovery before resuming his full papal duties.
